Tire Pressure:  always follow the manufacturers recommended tire pressure, which is found on the
sidewall of most tires.  Road bike tires usually take 100-125psi; mountain, comfort, and BMX bikes
usually take 45-65psi; hybrid bikes usually take 80-100psi.  Keeping tires properly inflated prevents
"pinch" flats.

Ski/Snowboard Maintenance: skis and snowboards require a waxed base to allow "gliding" on
snow.  Most skis and boards have a "sintered" base which is the fastest and most durable base
material when properly waxed.  The base needs wax when it looks like "dry skin," or begins to
appear white towards the edges.  Another sign the base needs wax is when the skis or board feels
like it has brakes when you ride through wet patches of snow.  Most skis and boards require proper
waxing every 2-3 days on the slopes.

Properly tuning skis and boards requires special tuning equipment.  Contrary to belief, skis and
boards rarely need a full tune.  A full tune includes a base grind, a base pattern, edge sharpening,
and a hot wax.  Tuning skis/boards removes base and edge material to get to fresh edges and
base, which is good when needed.  Ask your ski technician if your skis or snowboard require a tune.
