A board can require 24 general hours and a specific number of hours in named topics like Laws & Rules or Domestic Violence. Hitting the total without hitting the topic still fails renewal.

Real example: a Florida RN in their first renewal biennium owes 24 general hours plus a one-time HIV/AIDS course. In their third biennium, HIV/AIDS is gone, Domestic Violence CE is now due, and the total jumps to 26 hours because that topic sits on top of the base requirement rather than inside it. Most trackers show the same "24 hours" checklist every single cycle.

Sourced, not summarized. Requirements are read from the board's own regulation text, not a CE vendor's marketing page — vendors have an incentive to bundle extra hours, and don't always agree with the board.
Every rule has a citation and a verification date, so you can check it yourself, and so it can be re-checked as rules change.
Inferred is labeled inferred. When a recurrence or detail isn't spelled out in the rule and has to be inferred, RNewal flags it in the app instead of guessing silently.
What RNewal doesn't do
On purpose.
A few things we've deliberately left out, because doing them halfway would be worse than not doing them at all.
No auto-submitting CE to your board
RNewal tracks and organizes what you've completed. Filing it with your board is still something you do — and confirm — yourself.
No course marketplace
We're not incentivized to push you toward paid CE content. RNewal tracks whatever you actually took, from whatever provider you actually used.
No pretending we're your board
RNewal isn't affiliated with any state board of nursing or the NCSBN. When you need to actually verify a license, we hand you off to the real tool.
